Greenhouses Gases are responsible for around 30% of the rise in global temperatures. 14 new satellites operated by a Canadian space firm will be evaluating emissions for the first time as collaboration with a nonprofit Carbon Mapper and Space Research organisation. The satellites have detected methane plumes from existing fossil fuel facilities, estimating that the 3114 identified sites released up to 8.54m tones of methane in 2023. This information will be useful to improve understanding and predictions of methane emissions in order to understand and reduce warming trends.

\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg\" title=\"metha\" alt=\"methane hotspot explorer\" srcset=\"https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg 2500w, https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg 300w, https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg 768w, https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/c4652100.myzen.co.uk\/jp2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/header-32.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2500px) 100vw, 2500px\" \/>\n\nHistoric change in animal protection

Poland has become the 18th country in the European Union to ban fur farming, after President Karol Nawrocki officially signed a ban into law in December.
