SUMMARY:Find out more about the Ladyewell Shrine
DESCRIPTION:This is the next meeting of the Northern Dioceses’ Environment Group. It will be a Zoom meeting . \nTheir guest speaker will be Dr Stephen Garsed\, Environmental Lead for the Lancaster Diocese. \nHe will base his input around the Ladyewell shrine and its relevance to Catholic Social Teaching\, including the stewardship of creation. \nIf you come from outside the Diocese of Lancaster you may not be familiar with this shrine. Stephen writes: \nWe are so lucky to have\, in our diocese\, one of the oldest shrines to Our Lady in the country. It is a 900 year-old place of peace and tranquility on the outskirts of Preston\, easily accessible from the M6\, a place to make a special journey to – or drop into for rest and respite from the stresses of the motorway. It’s a lot more peaceful than the Services! \nAs is usual\, there will be time for questions\, updates about what is happening on the sustainability front across the Northern Dioceses\, as well as some opening and closing prayers. \nSign up to receive the Zoom link: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/find-out-more-about-ladyewell-shrine-tickets-2003237868390?aff=oddtdtcreator

SUMMARY:SPARK Screening: Land of Canaan
DESCRIPTION:This film focuses on themes of Palestinian land stewardship\, regenerative agriculture\, and cultural heritage. It is beautifully filmed and gives a moving insight into the lives of Palestinian Olive growers.\nA Palestinian-American anthropologist returns to his ancestral homeland\, where he finds the olive oil industry in crisis and leads a community of farmers through fair trade certification\, preserving a powerful legacy of food sovereignty\, agricultural heritage\, and resilience.\nThe film will start at 7pm.\nHowever\, doors will open at 6:30pm. Refreshments will be available and there will be a number of stalls selling Palestinian goods – a good time to buy presents in advance of Christmas!\nThe film lasts about 1hr 25 mins. After the film there will be time for some facilitated discussion and we are hoping to have a member of the film production team join us via Zoom or\, perhaps\, even in-person. \n \n  \nUse this link to buy tickets for this event https://leedslandofcanaan.eventbrite.co.uk \n  \nSPARK Social Justice\, working with Pax Christi in the Leeds Diocese\, is delighted to be sponsoring this film presentation as part of the 2026 Leeds Palestinian Film Festival
